Fashion Retail Management

Course Description

This highly competitive business sector requires individuals with intellectual abilities and a passion for their industry. As one of the fastest growing industries in the world, there is high demand for professional managers with technical understanding of the sector and a sound foundation of management principles, to lead its development.

This course will provide you with an overview of the fashion retail industries and will help you develop the knowledge and skills necessary for one or more roles within fashion retail. You will cover subjects including: visual merchandising, merchandising, modern retail practices, fast fashion, luxury fashion, discount fashion, niche and lifestyle retail, in-store promotions and events, online retailing, market segmentation, global and regional issues, store design, buying.

In order to maximise market penetration and consumer value, you will be involved in evaluating visual marketing and marketing communications and you will develop your research skills to enable you to apply them to different product strategies.

You will graduate with an understanding of the development of the history of the fashion business, the strategies that inform fashion marketing and branding as well as articulating trend forecasting. The skills you will develop will see you able able to perform a number of roles in the competitive global industry.

An honours degree from a UK University A first degree from an overseas university (GPA 3.0 out of 4.0 or average 75 per cent or any other equivalence to the above UK qualification) Successful passing a Pre-Master's course approved by Birmingham City UniversitySuccessful passing a Pre-Master's course at another UK university/institution with a minimum of 55 per cent average IELTS 6.0 (5.5 in all components) or equivalent is required
