MA Fashion Accessory Design

Course Description


This course caters for those who are passionate in developing a career in fashion accessories design. Learning is focused on studio and workshop practice and students will enjoy specialist interpretations of art, craft and design. Teaching will encourage students to strengthen personal creativity, design and style and take a professional approach to fashion accessory design.

Students will develop creative and practical design skills which are ideally suited to gaining a career in fashion and accessories design.
Learning through studio and workshop practice, students will also benefit from our close connections with manufacturers, and get to experiment with a wide range of materials to create new and innovative products.

This course is divided into three trimesters to allow students to work towards a Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma or a Master's qualification.


Modules undertaken include: Portfolio 1, Lecture and Seminar, Research Strategy, Portfolio 2, Dissertation, Portfolio 3.


Students' programme includes a mixture of practical projects and written work; students develop a portfolio of work that showcases their abilities and ideas and is executed and managed in a professional manner; at each stage students also write reflective reports that encourage the student to develop a critical and contextual framework within which to understand their practice and future career choices; students are assessed using a mixture of tutorial reviews, project work submissions and oral exams.

Entry Requirements

A good degree in a relevant area of art and design practice, eg textile design, fashion design, product design.
