Naval Architecture MSc


Course Description

Course overview

This course equips you with an understanding of naval architecture and its practical application. You will gain knowledge in ship design, hydrodynamic performance, ship production and structures.

Our teaching is by lectures, practical sessions, seminars and personal supervision. It uses expert staff based in the School of Marine Science and Technology. You choose from a variety of naval architecture related topics for your dissertation using the research strengths of the School. Subjects include: ship design; hydrodynamic performance; production and/or ship structures.

More diverse subjects will be considered on a case-by-case basis. You also benefit from taking part in projects sponsored directly by industry partners whenever they are available.

Entry Requirements

A 2:1 honours degree, or international equivalent, in a related subject. To study this course you need to meet our Band 2 English Language requirements: Direct Entry : IELTS 6.5 overall (with a minimum of 5.5 in all sub-skills) If you have lower English Language scores, you may be accepted onto a Pre-sessional English Language course.
