PGDip - full time: 9 months, part time: 21 months MPH - full time: 12 months, part time: 24 or 36 months
This course is for those who wish to pursue a career in Health Services Research in the UK, internationally with the UK National Health Service (or its equivalent abroad), local government, the voluntary sector or academic health care.
You will study: the factors that can influence the health of populations; the provision of health and health care; research skills; how to apply research findings to improve health and the delivery of health care services.
One third of the course involves a research project, which is developed in collaboration with staff in the Institute of Health and Society.
Your research project will focus on a topic in health services research. You can choose from a wide range of projects put forward by our academic staff, or propose your own research area.
A 2:1 honours degree, or international equivalent, in a medical, health or social sciences discipline. You can also apply if you have successfully completed the fourth year of the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) course, or equivalent.If you have a different background you will be considered on an individual basis. If you have non-standard qualifications then you will be invited to an interview.If your first language is not English you need an overall IELTS score of 7.5 (with at least 7.0 in writing)
