Professional Translation for European Languages MA

Course Description

Course Overview

The Professional Translation for European Languages MA gives you the skills and knowledge to become a professional translator, working between English and French, German, Italian and Spanish.

The professional translation focus of our course is a special feature. We aim to equip you with skills and strategies to enter careers: as freelance or in-house translators; in public or private organisations; in or beyond the language-services sector.

We combine practical translation work with learning about the profession and how to enter it. In your professional life you will only translate into your mother tongue and our teaching reflects this.

We are proud to be part of Newcastle's vibrant School of Modern Languages. Our staff are a key strength of this course. We are: academics in translation studies or other relevant fields, and/or; translating and interpreting professionals, and/or; specialist translator and interpreter trainers.
