Master of Interactive Media


Course Description

The Master of Interactive Media offers an advanced interdisciplinary exploration of creative arts and design practices that utilise leading edge digital media.
The program examines the web, mobile devices and physical computing as platforms for creativity, production, communication and learning. Students will engage with the theory and implementation of interactive media works and experiences utilising visual, sonic, tactile, textual and responsive mediums. The program encourages innovative ideas, processes and products based in reflective practice and collaborative enquiry. There is a significant research orientation that includes project work and supportive research training courses.

Language requirements
English language requirements apply to International applicants and other applicants whose previous study was undertaken in a language other than English. The minimum English language requirements for such applicants for entry to this program are as follows:
*A minimum score of 575 on TOEFL
*OR an internet-based (iBT) TOEFL score of 79 (no sub-score less than 19)
*OR a minimum overall band score of 6.5 on IELTS (Academic) with no sub-score of less than 6.0
*OR no score less than 3+ in each skill of the ISLPR (conducted by ISLPR Language Services only)
*OR a minimum grade of C on the Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)
*OR a minimum grade of C on the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE)
*OR an overall score of 61 in the Pearson Test of English (Academic) with a minimum of 54 in all Communicative Skills.

English test results must be no more than two years old.

Pathways to further study
Graduates of the Master of Interactive Media program may be eligible to apply for Higher Degree Research (HDR) studies such as the Master of Visual Arts (5052), Doctor of Visual Arts (6009) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

Entry Requirements

A Bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognised University or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing; OR hold a Bachelor degree in a related discipline from a recognised tertiary institution (students will be eligible for up to 40 credit points of credit); OR hold a Bachelor Honours degree or a Graduate Diploma in a related discipline from a recognised tertiary institution (students will be eligible for up to 80 credit points of credit).
