[[Legal knowledge for Business Practices]] Economists and social scientists working in companies, as well as self-employed entrepreneurs, must take into account diverse legal framework conditions in their daily work. However, these conditions are often complex and hard to grasp. The legal knowledge conveyed during economics degrees is generally insufficient to reach well-founded legally-relevant decisions and be able to fully grasp legal changes.
[[Objective]] The aim of the distance learning Master's degree, which has been offered by DISC since 2005, is to sharpen the perception of managers as a way of ensuring that they can detect chances and legal risks in their daily work. At the same time, course participants will learn how to decide when professional, external legal expertise is required. In cases where such external support is required, the knowledge gained during the course will also simplify the cooperation. It is planned that the course will conclude with the academic grade "Master of Laws" (LL.M.).
[[Target group]] The two-year, accredited "Commercial Law for Business Practice" distance learning Master's degree is aimed at graduates of economics, social sciences and industrial engineering. Applications will also be accepted from graduates of other disciplines, insofar as such applicants are familiar with the kind of legal issues encountered at companies. All applicants must demonstrate at least one year of relevant professional experience.
[[Program content]] The "Commercial Law for Business Practice" distance learning Master's degree encompasses 10 study modules. Among other topics, these modules cover the fields of contract law, commercial and corporate law, labor law, cross-border contracts, tax law, commercial law, administrative law, economic criminal law, intellectual property, credit law, accounting law and internet law.
