Why study this course at Birkbeck?
Designed for students with mathematical ability and a first degree in a quantitative subject. An ideal way to refresh and extend existing knowledge, as preparation for further graduate study or as a stand-alone course. Allows you to learn more about the areas of mathematics that most interest you. Copies of the recommended texts for each module will be available in the Birkbeck Library. The library also provides facilities for private study. There are several computer workstation rooms.
First degree in a quantitative discipline, such as science or economics, or a joint degree containing some mathematics. In exceptional circumstances, candidates without a first degree in a quantitative discipline may be admitted, provided they have equivalent-level qualifications or professional experience that convinces the admissions team that the programme is suitable for them. Our usual requirement is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 6.5, with not less than 6.0 in each of the sub-tests.
