In our increasingly global marketplace and society, the need for different nations and peoples to co-exist presents both challenges and opportunities. By understanding the potential tensions and parallels, you give yourself a greater chance of thriving in this international arena. For future-thinking students with an eye on a career in diplomacy or business, an MA in International Relations from Middlesex is an important stepping-stone.
Why study MA International relations at Middlesex?
Taught in the evenings, over one year or two (part-time), the course is ideal for students who work in London and want to broaden their skill set. The course has the circumstantial advantage of attracting students from all across the world, which provides a natural environment for sharing national perspectives and cultural beliefs.
An example of the dynamism in this course came during the recent Syrian crisis, as the world waited to see how the major powers would react to the allegations of chemical weapons employed by President Assad's regime. Students were invited to present their own viewpoints during a seminar around the question: should the world respect Syria's sovereignty or does it have a duty to protect vulnerable citizens? The range of responses highlighted the strength of feeling around the world at the time.
