This course is aimed at graduates from any discipline who wish to enter management positions in the events industry. The growth of events has led to a demand for graduates with practical know-how and business skills. The course is designed to give you a broad knowledge of the different facets of the industry, allowing you to apply for a variety of roles upon completion. You will work on real life events projects and a consultation project for an events based company. Alongside this practical experience you will also gain knowledge of key business principles including finance and marketing.
To complement and enhance your academic studies we aim to run an active programme of visiting speakers and trips into industry. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with employers in the region while working on your consultancy project.
The events industry is dynamic and is growing, meaning there are a multitude of sectors for you to work in across the globe. The academic elements of the course are applied practically through volunteering and live event project work; this means our graduates have the experience to stand out in a competitive job market. Previous graduates have gained employment in areas such as corporate events, hospitality events, sports event, conferences, exhibitions and music festivals to name a few.
Internship Opportunity - If you study the course on a full-time basis, you will have the opportunity to undertake a 36-48 week internship within the events industry, once you have completed the taught elements of the course. * Comprehensive induction week includes field trips to local businesses and attractions. * Collaboration with employers in the region will be possible on the consultancy project.
NOTE: Full-time is 2 days per week plus option of a one year internship. Part-time is 1 day per week over 2 to 5 years.
You will normally have a good UK undergraduate honours degree or international equivalent or membership of a major professional body. Candidates with management experience in a related field may be considered.
UK and EU students full-time £4,200, part-time £465 per 20 credits. Non-EU overseas students full-time £12,500
