In organisations of today, technology is a ubiquitous resource integrated into the fabric of business operation and there is a growing recognition that businesses need to leverage organisational data in order to maximise business opportunities. This programme focuses on both of these elements in preparing you to achieve a balanced combination of technical competence coupled with an understanding of business intelligence. The programme will allow you to develop the acumen necessary to identify opportunities for the organisation through understanding data, as well as the ability to build a case for exploiting and deploying technological solutions. This course is taught at the Business School by experienced tutors with real world consultancy and research experience in the field of digital business. Opportunities may exist for short (6-12 week) placements during the summer period which could be linked to your dissertation or research project. You will be assessed through a mixture of written essays and examinations, alongside face-to-face or digital presentations and multimedia assignments.

The number of units you study will depend on if you choose the PgCert (60 credits), PgDip (120 credits) or MSc (120 credits of units + 60 credit dissertation).

This course has been designed to meet the demands of employers for qualified analysts and skilled graduates with knowledge of Big Data. You will be taught in the Business School’s £75 million teaching and research headquarters on All Saints Campus in central Manchester. Extensive use of the University's online virtual learning portal (Moodle) to provide additional learning materials, communication and also as an aid to discussions. Visits to local companies and opportunities to attend guest lectures. You will have the opportunity to undertake a short internship with a local company to develop your work experience as part of your studies.

Normally a good UK honours degree (minimum 2:2), or international equivalent, in any subject. We will also consider your application if you have significant management experience or degree equivalent professional qualifications.
