Course Description

Recognised and approved by the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP), this course prepares graduates of all disciplines for a career in the modern information society.

Your study will focus on the design and evaluation of web data and information-based systems and services, and on the use and analysis of data and information in evidence, in research and as an asset in the management of organisations.

You may undertake a placement, which we will help you to source, in information units, libraries and other relevant centres, including large corporations, local government, the National Health Service, financial and legal services. This will provide networking opportunities within the library, information and media industries.

Faculty Postgraduate Scholarships - 16 Awards

The Faculty of Humanities, Languages and Social Science is pleased to announce we will be offering sixteen scholarships to assist students with financing their Masters studies. Students applying for full or part-time study on any taught Masters Programmes in the Faculty are eligible for these scholarships which will pay 50% of the fees for Masters study.MA Applied Linguistics

Master of Public Administration The Faculty offers a wide range of programmes at diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate levels in humanities, languages and social science, attracting more than 5,000 students from a diverse range of backgrounds. The Faculty’s postgraduate community is large and still growing; students are registered for the degrees of PhD, MPhil or MA/MSc. In addition, the Faculty is the location for a number of specialist research centres and there are a range of Faculty-wide, departmental-based and cross-University seminars held to promote discussion and disseminate research findings. Students are invited to participate in research seminars and attend performances, readings and events.

Through your application to your chosen Masters Programme demonstrate excellence, commitment, and potential
Be a UK or EU citizen
Have a good honours first degree in a relevant subject.
Applicants are expected to act as a ‘Masters Scholar’ and make a modest, but important, contribution to the learning community in the Faculty – examples might include offering a seminar, leading a small undergraduate project, undertaking a pilot project with one of our partner organisations, or representing the Faculty in a university event.

The Colwyn and Jean Rich Scholarship 2015 / 2016 - Single Award

The Jean Rich Foundation of Canada kindly offers the Colwyn and Jean Rich Scholarship to support one UK student studying full time on the MA Library and Information Management / MSc Information Management programme.The Scholarship has a value of 6,000 Canadian dollars and is intended for award to an applicant of academic merit who has the commitment to complete the programme of study and who is in need of financial support. The Foundation has stipulated that it wishes to award the Scholarship to a UK national and has also indicated its preference for supporting those candidates who can demonstrate their previous and/or potential social contribution to the community.
