Course Description

Important information: academic review of Manchester Metropolitan University Cheshire campus

Manchester Metropolitan University has been undertaking a review of the long-term future of academic provision at its Cheshire campus. It has now been confirmed that the University will withdraw from the Cheshire campus. This means that we expect the campus to close in the summer of 2019.

As the withdrawal from the campus will be a phased process we are still pleased to receive applications for one year full time postgraduate taught courses starting in 2017 on the Cheshire campus. We also continue to welcome applications for part time postgraduate courses of two years in duration in the Exercise and Sport Science department starting in 2017. Applications for courses that are expected to take longer than two years to complete are currently on hold.

Designed as a flexible programme to accommondate your employment and personal circumstances, this course has been devised to enhance your practical marketing management skills. With an additional focus on deepening your understanding of the core concepts and competencies that underpin this increasingly important business area, this course will provide you with an opportunity to combine your real world experiences with theory.

This programme ensures development of both personal and professional skills and knowledge through four core units while your marketing expertise will be developed through three marketing electives and a specialised research project culminating in the production of a dissertation.

By studying this internationally recognised award, you will develop a keen awareness of the most up-to-date management thinking and practice. You will also develop an appreciation of cutting edge techniques for managing people, thinking strategically and a full range of dynamic marketing techniques.

It provides opportunities to gain an internationally-recognised and career-enhancing qualification and to share experience whilst developing new skills and expertise. Graduates with broad-based Masters in business and management or specialist business Masters are well positioned to apply for a range of opportunities in the private or public sector.

Previous graduates have gone into employment in a wide range of management positions in industry, commerce, banking, finance, manufacturing and the public sector while many others have entered graduate training schemes with international companies such as IBM, Credit Suisse and BMW.

Those with good language skills have often chosen to develop their career outside the UK and now live and work in Europe, Asia or South America.

You will normally have a good undergraduate UK honours degree (or international equivalent) in any subject. If you have a different background, you may be admitted if you have completed degree equivalent professional qualifications or have relevant management experience.
