There is increasing international interest in drama as an educational medium; the UK has historically been the fulcrum for innovations in educational drama. This innovative new, full-time course is aimed primarily at international teachers and researchers.
This course will examine the wide-ranging roles and uses of drama in educational contexts. It will look at drama as a curriculum subject and a vehicle for developing other areas of the curriculum.
There will be a strong focus on creativity and critical exploration of the same in the context of recent educational policies and practices. Issues pertaining to teaching and learning will be examined by building on specific pedagogies, such as role-play.
This course will benefit those who wish to work in professional educational theatre contexts, community and arts management, colleges or schools (where QTS may also be needed), theatre and other arts-based projects in community and voluntary sector projects and other out of school and adult education roles.
