This is a flexible course designed to meet the needs of a wide range of education professionals, including teachers. It provides participants with an opportunity to study educational policy and practice within an increasingly globalised context. There may be an opportunity to take a specialised route in English Language Teaching.
The attendance requirements and modes of assessment are determined by the unit.
Students following the part-time route follow the same pattern of study described above, however students can take up to 2 years to complete both phases of the programme.
Taught sessions are mainly conducted during weekdays, though some may be offered at weekends and in the evening. In additon to the taught sessions you are expected to work independently.
This independent work will sometimes be directed by the tutor.
In addition to these directed tasks, you are also expected to spend time preparing for assignments by independent reading, research and reflection.
An intensive study route is also available, enabling you to complete the taught elements of the course through a period of short, but intense formal instruction followed by independent study supported by online materials, discussions and support. The intensive study mode should be of particular interest to international students.
The achievement of a Masters Degree demonstrates abilities that are highly valued by employers. The MA Education Studies opens up a variety of potential career paths, including education administration and or management and preparation for a PhD for teaching in higher education.
