Early Years Professional Status (EYPS) incorporating BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies and Practice in the Early Years


Course Description

The role of the Early Years Teacher programme has been introduced to improve the quality of early years experience for children. Early Years Teachers are responsible for leading and supporting practice across the Early Years Foundation Stage and will work in a range of early years settings.

This programme constitutes the EYPs Under-graduate Practitioner (UPP) Pathway. Students, who must be employed in an eligible setting, will study a range of units which will develop their critical understanding of early years practice.

Course funded and commissioned by the National College for Teaching and Leadership to enable trainees who qualify for National College for Teaching and Leadership funding to achieve an academic qualification and complete the assessment for Early Years Teacher status. Entry Requirements

An Early Years foundation degree (FdA) or HND. Graduates from other disciplines may be accepted onto this route and be eligible for the Postgraduate Certificate. Specific subjects required GCSEs in English language and mathematics at grade C or above, or equivalent. Additional requirements: Applicants must be in employment in the early years private, voluntary or independent sector or a Children's Centre.Satisfactory Criminal Records Bureau disclosure.
