Course Description

This award provides a pathway for university graduates in any discipline to acquire qualifications that are fully recognised by CPA Australia and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and then go on to study more advanced units in accounting and business.

Suitable for
Suited to a student with a Bachelor degree in any discipline who would like to complete the accounting units required for professional accreditation as well as other advanced accounting units.

This degree is not suitable for students who have completed an accounting degree with units equivalent to those required for associate membership of CPA Australia.

Relevant areas: Professional role with financial responsibilities in fields such as Accounting, Finance, Business or Commerce with technical/specialists skills in key concepts and principles related to professional accounting.

English language requirements
IELTS of 6.5 overall with minimum 6.0 in each band, or equivalent

All applicants for undergraduate or postgraduate coursework studies at Macquarie University are required to provide evidence of proficiency in English.

You may satisfy the English language requirements if you have completed:
- senior secondary studies equivalent to the NSW HSC
- one year of Australian or comparable tertiary study in a country of qualification

A specialisation must be chosen at the time of application.
Students seeking to specialise in Business Management and Organisations, Economics, Human Resource Management or Marketing may be required to undertake additional units to meet the requirements of their specialisation. We recommend these students seek academic advice before enrolling in this program.

- Accreditation
Accredited with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and CPA Australia. The Master of Accounting (Professional) is recognised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants and CPA Australia. The units in this degree have been designed to meet the educational requirements of CPA Australia, ICAA and other international accounting bodies. The degree provides thorough preparation for the CPA or CA programs and is taught by highly qualified teaching staff many of whom have had first-hand experience with the CPA and CA programs. Accreditation of the double degree is yet to be formalised but is expected in the near future.
