Master of Advanced Translation and Interpreting Studies

Course Description

This degree will enhance your qualifications if you are accredited at professional level by NAATI or have had training in translation equivalent to this level, by teaching you research and practical skills involved in translating highly sophisticated and specialised texts.

This program is not language specific so students from a wide range of backgrounds can apply.

• Prepares you to sit the NAATI advanced translator exam
• Study a wide variety of subjects; subtitling, discourse and text analysis, and advanced professional practice.
• Opportunity to choose electives which focus on business, literary, legal or medical translating.

Entry Requirements

* A Bachelor degree with a minimum GPA of 2.5 in T&I, Linguistics, Language of Cultural Studies, or other related fields. * NAATI Professional Level Accreditation as a Translator (or overseas equivalent) or completion of any postgraduate degree in translation and interpreting with at least a Credit in one intermediate level core practical translation subject (eg. TRAN820 in the PG Diploma/Master in Translating and Interpreting and Macquarie University) - acceptance subject to case-by-case assessment.
