The Division of Environmental and Life Sciences and the Division of Economic and Financial Studies/GACC jointly offer the Master of Biotechnology/Master of Commerce in Business as a double degree program. Successful students will graduate with full recognition by Macquarie University that two postgraduate degrees have been earned.
This double degree is directed at equipping graduates with both a specific level of technical and intellectual expertise in Biotechnology as well as the skills necessary to manage Biotechnology in the business arena. It is suitable for graduates wanting to gain an understanding of a multidisciplinary approach to Biotechnology as well as acquire functional business skills.
The MBiotech/MComBus double degree requires completion of 12 units.
Applicants for the Master of Biotechnology/Master of Commerce in Business double degree must hold a recognised degree equivalent in standing to an Australian three-year bachelor degree in Science in a relevant field of study with a substantial laboratory component in the areas of molecular biology, microbiology, chemistry or bio-analytical techniques. Applicants without these prerequisites can enter the Masters program by successfully completing the Graduate Certificate in Biotechnology. In addition, preference will be given to students with some academic or professional background in business. English proficiency is required (IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 580). Work experience is not required.
