This MA in International Planning is intended for students who have an international appreciation of planning systems and activities and for students who intend to work outside of the UK after graduating.
Urban planning and the management of development is a global concern. On this course you'll develop professionally recognised skills to enable employment in the global planning field. You'll have the opportunity to understand the nature of urban and spatial planning in an international context.
You'll study different planning systems and develop your planning skills within a comparative context. You'll develop and in-depth study through the dissertation of an international planning issue or concern and visit a European country to investigate its planning practices - currently students visit the Ruhr in Germany or Turin in Italy. In the past visits have included Barcelona, Bucharest and Venice.

Modules are assessed by a mixture of essays, reports, projects, group work and seen exams.
This course provides you with a thorough understanding of urban planning in an international context. You'll be prepared for a career in this field throughout the world, and in a variety of international organisations, agencies, central or local government, and NGO's.
