Master of Business Administration: Chinese Business Practice (MBA)

Course Description

The Master of Business Administration, MBA in Chinese Business Practice is a unique course delivered in two of the world's most exciting cities; London and Shanghai. The first semester is taught at London South Bank University and the second is located at Shanghai Normal University. Shanghai Normal University is a key university in Shanghai with an excellent reputation for hosting international students. Students also attend a three month internship in Shanghai. The course is designed for students who wish to gain an excellent grounding in doing business within a Chinese environment.

China's economy is one of the largest in the world and it is highly likely that most businesses will be working with Chinese organisations at some point in the future. The course is supported by the award winning Confucius Institute hosted at London South Bank University. The Institute supports students with Chinese language preparation which will continue once in Shanghai.

Semester 1 taught at LSBU:
- Managerial economics
- Managing accountancy and finance
- Managing human resources in China

Semester 2 taught at Shanghai Normal University:
- Managing strategy and change within China
- Managing the marketing environment
- Critical management inquiry supervised (jointly by LSBU and SHNU academic teams)

Following completion of the taught programme you'll go on to undertake your internship, designed to inform your dissertation (management project).

All students have the opportunity to study towards the HSK Mandarin language proficiency exam. Whether this is taken during the semesters in Shanghai will be dependent on the level achieved.


Students graduating from the MBA Chinese Business Practise will prove to be valuable assets for any global employer. The course prepares you to operate at a management level within an international environment, and with a specific focus on working either with or within China.

In the UK and Europe, employers are currently seeking graduates with the cross cultural awareness that this course provides.

The HSK Chinese language proficiency qualification is recognised internationally. You can study at your own pace and continue the qualification after graduation to progress to higher levels of proficiency. HSK centres can be found around the world.

Entry Requirements

- Your degree/professional qualification should be in an appropriate subject equivalent to a UK honours degree (minimum 2:2)- For those whom English is not their first language, written English at IELTS Level 6.5.
