Financial Economics (MSc)

Course Description

If you're looking to build a career as an economist - a role which brings plentiful job opportunities in both the public and private sector - our course will equip you with the tools you need to succeed. Companies across all industries are recognising the crucial role economists can play in their business.

This course is an opportunity to develop analytical skills alongside economic and financial theories, which will enable you to play a leading role in planning, problem solving and taking a company forward.

What sets this course apart from other financial qualifications is our focus on how finance links with the wider economy. You will build an understanding of the latest economic theories in order to analyse the way in which firms take financial decisions and how these affect performance.

This is a course committed to combining finance and economics with a global outlook - and among your areas of study will be the topical issues in bank regulation, advanced macroeconomics and microeconomics, and statistical testing of economic theories.

Whether you're already working in the field and looking to progress, or are a recent graduate keen to get started in economics, our course will help you move forward.

- Research Excellence Framework 2014: twice as many of our staff - 220 - were entered into the research assessment for 2014 compared to the number entered in 2008.
