Sports Events Management (MSc / PG Dip / PG Cert)

Course Description

Drawing on academic and industry expertise from around the world, this course is designed to meet the sports events management requirements of organisations that bid for, and deliver, sporting fixtures of all sizes - from the Olympic Games to the Leeds Half Marathon.

You will address the challenges facing sports events managers, including the increasing pressure to meet the demands of global governing bodies, how to manage a volunteer workforce, secure appropriate sponsorship packages, reduce risks and ensure the health, safety and security of every stakeholder.

By developing the specialist knowledge and skills required, you will enhance your expertise to strategically plan and manage sporting events to the satisfaction of local and international stakeholders.

For International Students who want to improve their English and academic skills we offer a combined masters course with the MSc Sports Events Management. If you have an IELTS score of 5.0 or 5.5 you can study for two semesters before starting your postgraduate degree. As you will be given one unconditional offer you will not normally need to renew your visa. Find out more about our International Masters (http://courses.leedsmet.ac.uk/main/course.htm?ban=INTMF).

- Research Excellence Framework 2014: 59% of our research submitted was assessed as world leading or internationally excellent.

Jenni Rishworth

When I was searching for a postgraduate degree, Leeds Beckett really stood out because the course was so specific and focused. The modules were a great mixture of classroom learning and practical experience - I even had the opportunity to spend four months as an intern at the London 2012 Olympics, something I could never have done if I hadn't come to study here.
