The course provides students with an understanding of how design interfaces with other disciplines in the product development process. It draws on the strengths of the design research centre, ImaginationLancaster. You will develop an understanding of design thinking and design-driven innovation and its relationship to high-impact collaborative R&D and commercialisation projects through UK and Chinese business partnerships. Students selected for this unique programme will receive a living allowance award of £16,000 over the duration of the programme.
A unique feature of this programme is the opportunity to work with companies in both the UK and China; spending a minimum of six months in China. Students will build upon their academic and practical experience to develop and deliver innovation-themed projects to UK and Chinese companies. Through close inter-departmental collaboration with Lancaster University Management School and Faculty for Science and Technology it will equip students with a solid foundation of knowledge, skills and expertise in the areas of design, management and technology.
