Energy and the Environment

Course Description

With the EU-wide acceptance of the need to transition to lower carbon energy regimes, very significant employment opportunities have opened up in both the public and private sector to foster the uptake of ‘alternative’ patterns of energy supply and demand. The MSc Energy and the Environment is a response to this need whilst recognising that energy provision and use is not simply an engineering issue. The taught component of the programme is interdisciplinary and encompasses environment, engineering and policy. The program is completed by an extended research project, working on an energy sector application, often developed in conjunction with an industrial partner.

Modules on offer include:
- Environmental Management
- Low Carbon Energy Use
- Sustainable Systems
- Climate Change and Society
- Energy Conversion
- Environmental Auditing
- Environmental Radioactivity
- International Environmental Law
- Renewable Energy
- The Nuclear Engineering Environment
