Engineering with Management MSc


Course Description

An MSc in Engineering with Business Management will prepare you for a career in the field of engineering at management level, equipping you with practical and theoretical knowledge of modern engineering techniques. Please note that this programme is not an MBA. It is primarily an MSc in Engineering (which accounts for 75% of the content). Management makes up a small part of this programme (accounting for 25% of content).

Course detail

- Description -

The management content of this programme consists of three taught modules: Principles of Management, Operations Management, and Project Management.These modules provide students with a good understanding of a wide range of both general management and engineering management techniques and applications. The remainder of the programme consists of a wide range of optional modules that relate to specific areas of engineering and informatics. The final part of the programme is an individual project in an engineering and informatics topic closely linked with the Department's research activities.

- Course purpose -

A graduate in engineering or a related scientific discipline, from this programme you will gain practical and theoretical knowledge of the engineering and informatics techniques currently used within industry. This will provide valuable preparation for careers in the field of engineering at a managerial level.

- Course format and assessment -

Lectures; tutorials; seminars; laboratory sessions; optional career planning workshops.

Assessed through: coursework; written examinations; final project report.

Career prospects

Via the Department’s Careers Programme students are able to network with top employers and obtain advice on how to enhance career prospects. Our graduates have gone on to have very successful careers on a managerial level, working in key positions within manufacturing, engineering or engineering management.
