Course Description

Nursing with registration is an innovative two-year programme, which enables graduates from other disciplines to gain professional registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as an Adult Nurse, Children's Nurse or Mental Health Nurse through postgraduate study. This course will permit you to develop your nursing skills and build your knowledge of professional and ethical practice.

Course detail

- Description -

This postgraduate nursing programme is designed for graduates from other disciplines who wish to gain professional registration in Adult, Children's or Mental Health Nursing. The programme runs over two years.

The programme focuses on quality care, cutting edge clinical skills and is designed to be both research intensive and research informed. You will learn the pivotal roles of nurse and client, while developing your nursing skills and building your knowledge of professional and ethical practice. This innovative programme ensures our students meet the registration requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Subjects such as nursing bioscience, professional practice, research, evidence-based practice, policy and clinical leadership, as well as adult, children's or mental health nursing are studied. The programme is divided between theoretical modules and clinical practice, with blocks of time spent in clinical placement.

You will have the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of healthcare settings. Opportunities for national and international electives are also offered.

- Course purpose -

The primary aim of the programme is to support students as they progress towards registered practitioner level and beyond, and to provide a framework within which they can acquire and demonstrate both generic transferable competencies and those specific to their area of practice.

Perseverance Trust Scholarship 2016 - 3 Awards

The Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing & Midwifery at King’s College London is pleased to announce that five King’s scholarships are available for its Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing with registration programme. The new scholarships have been established through a generous donation from The Perseverance Trust.The scholarships are based on both financial circumstances and academic standing, and can be used to fund living expenses during the full length of the programme, for students enrolling in September 2016.Each scholarship is worth £5,000 and is paid over the two years of the course.Successful candidates will receive £2,500 in each year of study, dependent upon satisfactory academic and clinical placement progression, and receipt of occupational health and Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) clearance by 2nd September 2016. Studentships will not cover periods of repeat or interrupted study.

Applications are invited from students undertaking the 2 year Postgraduate Diploma (PG Dip) in Nursing, who are able to provide evidence of financial need. In order to be eligible to apply, you must be a new home student for fee purposes, starting in September 2016.

Application Procedure

To apply, you should download the form, complete and return it to the Student Funding Office.You will need to supply documentary evidence of your financial circumstances with your application as well as a personal statement. If these are not supplied, your application will not be considered.The deadline for applications is Friday 2 September 2016.
