"What I liked the most about the program was the courses and their lecturers. It is the perfect combination between the engineering and the management sides of logistics. It provided me with a strong theoretical background that I later used in the tasks performed during my daily work."

After successful completion of the study program, Petru started his career in logistics with a job in Airbus Operations GmbH, Hamburg, Germany, with the Solution Integration & Deployment department. Studying in Jacobs University enabled him to be a member of the Logistics Chain Club through which he secured his job at Airbus.

Ikenna

"I enjoyed discussing ideas about trends in the corporate world and logistics industry with my fellow students and lecturers. The small size of the classes allow for such discussions which highly encouraged a diverse learning and thinking environment. The combination of Engineering and Management courses within the program gives one the ideal preparation for the real-life logistics industry which includes both aspects on a day-to-day basis."

As part of the program, Ikenna worked as an intern with the Corporate Cross Border & Logistics Management department of METRO Group in Düsseldorf, Germany. He enjoyed learning about logistics modeling, advanced research skills, intercultural orientation and the new languages which the program provided him.

Jacobs University is constantly ranked as one of the top universities in Germany and Europe based both on academic excellence and campus life.

In September 2016, I started working for ABInBev, one of the top consumer companies in the world. The reputation of Jacobs University and the fact that Jacobs alumni work at some of the best companies in the world have actually augmented my chances. After this two year master program I consider myself a great logistics professional and fully ready to start working in the supply chain industry.

This master degree has prepared me for my new job by providing me with technical expertise in the field of supply chain, production and distribution logistics, project management, as well as with practical projects and visits to several logistics-intensive companies in the Bremen area. In my opinion, the SCEM degree successfully combines hard skills and technical knowledge with soft skills, namely courses in the area of leadership and intercultural skills and, of course, German language lessons.

As part of my degree, I also did a three month internship in the Order Logistics Department of Lisega SE, a local company who is the world market leader in the domain of pipe supports. It was an excellent opportunity to put into practice all the knowledge that I had amassed during classes. The internship successfully complemented the university courses and it helped me to get a sense of what it means to work for a German company. It was a great experience that convinced me to keep working in Germany and in the logistics and supply chain sector.

The Professors were great and I learned a lot from them. My colleagues were amazing as well, we learned a lot from each other and we supported each other during the studies. On top of all that, Bremen is a wonderful city to live in and one of the most important logistic hubs in Europe, offering many job opportunities to university graduates.

I therefore recommend the SCEM program to anyone interested in pursuing a career in logistics. In my view, Supply Chain Engineering & Management program offers all the necessary tools to a future practitioner in the field of supply chain management: technical knowledge, intercultural competence and access to a network of world leading companies in the field of logistics.
