Master in Global Environmental Change

Course Description

Global environmental change is the major challenge the world is facing in the 21st century. Over the last decades, the surface of the earth has been changing rapidly due to urbanization and deforestation, while fossil fuel use is altering
the atmosphere. Changes in temperature and rainfall affect biodiversity, agriculture and food security. In addition, natural disasters may change in frequency and impact while infectious diseases spread faster around the globe as a result of intensifying global connections.

This master´s degree is designed as a response to Global environmental change, which is characterized by complex interactions between processes with different impacts between geographical areas. This complexity calls for professionals with a broad outlook and strong analytical skills, trained to translate data into information relevant to decision makers. The Master in Global Environmental Change provides solid skill building in quantitative analysis and geographical information systems, applied to global environmental change.

The exciting and ground-breaking nature of this program lies in the unique combination of three factors:

• IE School of Biology´s collaboration with leading research organizations
• The hands-on learning approach, extending IE´s unique case-based methodology
• The strong commitment of IE to sustainability as a core value
