Master's Degree Programme in Early Language Education for Intercultural Communication


Course Description

The two-year International Master's Degree Programme in Early Language Education for Intercultural Communication (120 ECTS) is offered jointly by the University of Eastern Finland (Joensuu campus, Finland) and the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia (St Petersburg, Russia). This programme prepares students to teach foreign languages to children with the emphasis on early age intercultural communication competence. In addition to on-site studies both in Joensuu, Finland and St Petersburg, Russia, the programme also includes distance studies.

In 2015, a maximum of 20 students per year will be selected into the programme, 10 (ten) of them to have the University of Eastern Finland (UEF), Joensuu campus, as the home university and 10 (ten) to have the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia (HSPUR), St Petersburg, as the home university.

The next application period for applicants aiming to have the University of Eastern Finland as their home university is from 7 January to 18 February 2015.

1) Bachelor's degree majoring in education or foreign languages; 2) Teacher qualification (in any country); 3) Sufficient English proficiency: IELTS (Academic): 6.5, TOEFL PBT: 580, TOEFL iBT: 90, PTE (Academic): 59
