MRes Clinical Research - Translational Medicine Pathway


Course Description

The course combines an introduction to the theory behind and technologies currently used in drug discovery, pharmacokinetics, role of biomarkers and surrogate endpoints, preclinical safety assessment, first-time-in-human studies, clinical investigation paradigms, research governance and medical statistics.

Suitable for all medical disciplines, but of particular interest to Cardiovascular/Respiratory, Neuroscience, Oncology, and Metabolic medicine, the programme is highly suitable for graduates in medicine who wish to pursue a career as clinical academics and for medical professionals in industry.

Faculty of Medicine Dean's Master's Scholarships - 9 Awards

Applications are invited from outstanding candidates from Imperial College London, the UK and worldwide who have the potential to become leaders in their field. There are no restrictions on nationality.Five awards are available for Home/EU students and four are available for Overseas students. Successful applicants will have their tuition fees paid for by the Faculty of Medicine and will receive and additional stipend of £17,000 to cover living expenses (paid in monthly instalments). Students with evidence of outstanding academic potential are strongly urged to apply, as are other applicants with a less strong academic background but who have professional, research or voluntary experience in a relevant field.The deadline for scholarship applications is 26 April 2016.

Eligibility

Available to Home/EU students and Overseas students planning to study a full-time or part-time Master's course run by Imperial's Faculty of Medicine in the 2016/17 academic year.

Application Procedure

Entry Requirements

The MRes in Translational Medicine is one of the three pathways of the umbrella programme - MRes in Clinical Research.The pathway is designed to cater for UK and international students with an undergraduate degree in Medicine or Life Sciences. Basic scientists with a degree in life sciences are also encouraged to apply. An upper second class honours is preferred, however students with lower second class Honours are also invited to apply.
