European Master in Strategic Project Management (MSPME)


Course Description

INTRODUCTION
Good things come in 3s. This 16-month course offers three periods of study in three countries; three degrees from three universities; three interconnected themes combining three cultures and core strengths in three areas:

Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK
September to mid-February
High-level strategic underpinning to project planning, strategy formulation and implementation in organisations.
 Strategic Project Management
 Competitve Strategy
 Business Models: Themes & Issues
 Strategic Change

Politecnico di Milano, Milan, Italy
March to July
The creation and management of appropriate control mechanisms in strategic projects. Modules include:
 Business Statistics
 Finance
 Management Accounting and Control
 Project Management I & II
 Project Procurement
 Project Risk Analysis and Management



Umeå School of Business and Economics, Umeå, Sweden
September to January
Integrated and research-based approach to strategic thinking and project management and project management. Modules include:
 Research Methods
 Strategic Project Management Decision Making
 Masters Level Thesis


The course is taught in English. However, students also have access (without any added fee) to:
• 12 week pre-sessional English language training (HW)
• Beginners Italian and Italian language courses (Polimi, Italy)
• Introduction to Swedish I and II (Umea, Sweden)

Minimum entry requirement is high-quality Bachelor degree (or equivalent academic degree) of minimum 3 years duration and 180 ECTS credits in cognate discipline, or semi-cognate discipline
