Tourism is a highly-competitive industry in virtually every country of the world, which has created a demand for managers who possess the knowledge and skills to succeed in this dynamic and global industry.
This course will enhance your business management potential by developing your knowledge and skills to identify and respond to the wide range of opportunities and threats in future tourism business environments. You will also appreciate the multi-disciplinary approaches required in the sector.
A strong emphasis is placed on the role of communication and creativity in effective management practice, together with an awareness of contemporary issues. A key feature of this course is the ‘live industry project’, where you will travel overseas for an external organisation and apply your skills and knowledge to a real business. Previous students have completed projects in Malaysia, the Gambia and the Azores in Portugal.

Teaching and assessment
Lectures, guest speakers, seminars and e-learning activities will help give you an understanding of the travel and tourism sector as a business. There is also a range of action learning opportunities through case studies, scenario-planning, simulations and live projects.
You will be assessed through case study analysis, presentations, essays, e-discussions, examinations and debates through a range of individual and team-based environments.

International Tourism Business Administration MA: A good honours degree or equivalent from a recognised institution. International Tourism Business Administration PGDip: A degree or equivalent qualification from a recognised institution or at least five years’ management experience in a relevant field with appropriate academic qualifications. UCB’s standard English language requirement for postgraduate study will apply (IELTS 6.0 or equivalent).
