Masters Degrees in Linguistics

Masters Degrees in Linguistics train postgraduate students to analyse languages at an advanced level. Though associated with the Humanities, these programs are often quite scientific in approach. They trace the evolution of languages and linguistic groups over time, examining their operation through grammar and vocabulary and considering the psychological significance of language use.

Courses may be taught or research-based, awarding a wide range of qualifications. MA and MRes degrees are available, as are some interdisciplinary MSc degrees.
