Universities in Bangkok
Bangkok is Thailand’s main centre for higher education. Its many local universities developed during the 19th century and were themselves significant drivers of urban and economic growth; some of their campuses were originally located in rural areas, but have now become part of busy metropolitan hubs.
The oldest university in Bangkok is Chulalongkorn University, originally founded in 1917. It is regarded as one of the most prestigious universities nationally (degree certificates are traditionally handed out by a member of the Thai royal family) and is well ranked alongside other Asian universities.
Other universities in Bangkok include Thammasa University, Kasetsart University, Mahidol University and Slipakorn University. All are amongst the most prestigious higher education institutions in Thailand and also perform well in regional rankings.
Careers in Bangkok
Bangkok is a major regional hub for finance, commerce and business, hosting the headquarters of many companies operating in South East Asia. Companies with a presence in the Thai capital include Google, PepsiCo, Citibank and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
