Meet the speakers:

Matt Burton

Communications & Marketing Manager, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry & Health, University of Sheffield

Matt Burton, DipM, MCIM, CMktr, is a yorkshire-based Chartered Marketer with experience of working for three universities in the county of Yorkshire and Humber: University of Huddersfield; University of Leeds; University of Sheffield. In each of his HE marketing roles to date, Matt has worked within a specific academic Faculty/School including his current role leading the marketing function at Sheffield's Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health. As a skilled leader and passionate marketer, Matt tries to espouse values of collaboration, positivity, continuous improvement, digital first and customer focus. He lives in Leeds with his wife and three children.

Emma Thorne

Head of News, University of Nottingham

Emma began her career cutting her teeth on local crime stories and parish council meeting agendas in regional print journalism before moving into HE communications. She quickly discovered a passion for science communication in her role as Media Relations Manager at The University of Nottingham, most recently attracting national and international coverage for medical discoveries and ground breaking research while cheerleading for the University’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. She was excited and delighted when a story about the sex life of Jeremy, a rare, mutant lefty snail became the biggest of her career so far, attracting global attention and reaching an estimated audience of 1.9bn. She has recently taken up the new challenge of Head of News for the institution, leading the University’s talented team of media relations professionals.

Amy Naughton

Client Services Director, Jaywing

Amy is a digital marketing specialist having spent over 15 years agency side helping brands shape their marketing across mobile, web and social channels. With an MA in creative media practice and a background in planning she grounds her thinking in sound creative solutions that are driven through insight – an ethos she drives though her team in her role as Client Services Director with clients ranging from Pepsi and Doritos through to Merlin and University of Portsmouth.

Richelle Quinn

Head of Strategic Marketing, Sheffield Hallam University

Richelle is Head of Strategic Marketing at Sheffield Hallam University leading on brand strategy, reputation and commercial marketing activities as well the Digital Experience and Creative and Design teams. Before working at Sheffield Hallam Richelle lead on Marketing Planning and Strategy for HSBC’s Foreign Exchange offer covering 42 regions globally and prior to this developed multi-channel consumer focused campaigns for British Telecom.

Dr Mark Bennett

Head of Content, FindAUniversity

Dr Mark Bennett is Head of Content at FindAUniversity, with overall responsibility for the information, advice and guidance students find on our websites. He regularly engages with prospective students' funding queries and has presented on postgraduate funding, experiences and IAG at events organised by Westminster Forum, UKCGE and HELOA.
