What’s it like to study a Masters in Wolverhampton?
Originally associated with the woollen trade, Wolverhampton expanded during the 19th century following the discovery of local raw materials and the establishment of mining operations and factories in the area. As it grew to prominence the city was visited by members of the Royal Family and became an important part of one of the first major British railway networks, the Great Western Railway.
The 20th century saw Wolverhampton develop further as a major manufacturing centre and, as part of this proud manufacturing heritage, the city was the place of construction for several early Grand Prix vehicles, including the first to break the 200mph land speed record.

Wolverhampton’s sole university, the University of Wolverhampton, was granted its charter in 1992 (though its origins date back to 1835). It offers a range of courses at all levels and emphasises widening participation in university education.
Other nearby higher education providers include Harper Adams University, a specialist agricultural university, located around 16 miles northwest of the city, as well as various universities located in and around Birmingham (with which Wolverhampton forms the West Midlands Urban Area).
