The sport and performance psychology (SPP) program at University of Western States (UWS) provides students with the skills in positive and applied sport psychology needed to enhance performance and maximize human potential. The program offers a Master of Science degree as well as a doctoral degree. The Master of Science program transfers seamlessly into the doctoral program should a student wish to continue on after completing the master’s level.
Our faculty is comprised of recognized leaders in the field of applied sport psychology who have extensive experience in the classroom and private practice. This practical experience is a key strength of the program because it provides students with diverse learning opportunities from professionals with established careers and experience as sport psychology consultants.
Beyond the classroom, our programs provide many diverse practicum opportunities for students to apply learned skills with athletes and performers in real-world settings. In addition to established locations, students are encouraged to pursue practicum experiences that meet their particular interests.
The program focuses extensively on the science and practice of sport and performance psychology. Beyond learning the basic principles of sport psychology, our professors and curriculum help you apply the information with a hands-on approach.
The program is designed specifically to teach the science, theory and application of sport and performance psychology in the most comprehensive curriculum possible.
Flexibility and Customization
Our program offers great flexibility and several personalized elective options. This allows our students to select interesting, relevant coursework to meet their individual job and certification needs.
