We have 3 University of Sheffield, School of Modern Languages and Cultures Masters Degrees

The School of Languages and Cultures consists of French, Germanic Studies, Hispanic Studies, Russian and Slavonic Studies. Staff in the School participate in collaborative projects in e-learning and knowledge exchange with industry, and have taken part in three HEFCE-funded initiatives for the development of teaching and learning in Modern Languages: enhancing the effectiveness of the year abroad; peer observation for professional development; induction training for foreign language assistants and graduate tutors.

We have collaborative projects in four language departments with an average score of 5 in the most recent Research Assessment Exercise (RAE).

We offer a wide range of taught programmes, which are innovative and have a professional orientation. We are particularly proud of our range of teaching and learning methods, which foster transferable, interpersonal and professional skills.

The content of the taught programmes is constantly revised and developed to keep them in line with the latest technological and scholarly developments in the field. They have been designed to provide practical links between the use of languages and the world of work.
