The School of Earth and Environment provides a stimulating learning experience for students of earth, environmental science and environmental management. We are top 10 in the UK for Geology, Complete University Guide 2023, and 10th in the UK for Earth and Marine Sciences, Guardian University Guide 2022. We have expertise in areas ranging from geology and geophysics, environmental science, meteorology and climate science, to environmental social science together under one roof. We have just over 1,100 students from almost 80 countries studying with us. Not only are our courses excellent for career development, with many graduates taking top positions in industry and government, they are also preparation for those wishing to undertake further in-depth study in the form of a PhD and we are proud to say that University of Leeds students are among the top 5 most targeted by top employers according to The Graduate Market 2022, High Fliers Research. Sustainability Research Institute (SRI) is dedicated to the development and application of interdisciplinary environmental analysis in realisation of the principles of sustainable development: Institute for Climate and Atmospheric Science (ICAS) is dedicated to understanding the physical and chemical processes that govern the behaviour of Earth's atmosphere. Atmospheric processes are investigated using numerical models and field and laboratory experiments from the Earth's surface to the stratosphere.
