The Institute is a newly established international centre of excellence for the study of conflict transformation and social justice at Queen’s University Belfast.
We are a “GATEWAY TO INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH… HARNESSING THE NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE AND EXPERTISE OF STAFF IN THE FIELDS OF CONFLICT, PEACE-BUILDING, HUMAN RIGHTS AND TRANSITIONAL JUSTICE”. We benefit from a depth of expertise amongst our staff and a range of internationally renowned specialists.
The Institute aims to advance the comparative study of conflict transformation and social justice by providing a space for dialogue between researchers, practitioners, policy makers and political activists from local, regional, national and global spheres of influence.
At the heart of the Institute is the strong recognition of the inseparability of social justice from the sustainable processes of conflict transformation and ultimately, of peace. A core objective is to facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration in research and teaching and to provide strategic focus to support research on societies emerging from conflict. The Institute will promote national and international collaborations that lead to high quality publications and will engage activists and practitioners to enhance the non-academic value of research.
Queen’s University Belfast has established itself in the premier league of UK research-intensive universities and is a member of the Russell Group, providing world-class education underpinned by world-class research, attracting high-quality students and academics from around the world.
