As the number of Australian corporations operating in China has increased, so too has Chinese investment in Australia, creating complex settings for both business and government models across the two nations. The growing social and economic interaction between Australia and China, and between China’s state and society, has created a need for new expertise across these divides.

Our first-of-its-kind Master of China Public Administration (MCPA) is a bilingual (English and Modern Standard Chinese) program for middle-level public administrators, entrepreneurs and business people in both China and Australia. The MCPA aims to create well-trained and skilled leaders confident in their ability to work effectively in public administration, business and other organisations in China and that interact with China.

Across this innovative two-year program you will study public administration and business management theory and practice as applied to China. With a compulsory semester-long internship in China for domestic students (as well as international students who are not China-based), and a work placement in Australia for China-based candidates, you can enhance core understandings with real-world experience of public administration and business operations while building new contacts internationally.
As well as being a graduate of the only MCPA program in the world, you’ll have a competitive advantage from the degree’s combination of key learning areas, applied experience and its focus on language proficiencies.

Our degree has already caught the attention of a number of companies, enterprises and institutions as a source of further training and education for their staff. By joining the MCPA, you’ll be entering a program with the support of the China Studies Centre, featuring the longest history of China Studies and largest body of active academics in the field of any Australian university.
