This inter-university master’s degree with Universitat de Barcelona is the continuation of the URV-specific degree in Anthropology of Medicine (1994-2000), and the Master's Degree in Medical Anthropology and Global Health (2006-2014). It is considered the best master’s degree, taught in Spanish language, in Europe and Latin America because of the quality of its professors and the research done.

Its aim is to provide students with a solid foundation in the theories, techniques and methodologies of medical anthropology. On graduating they should be able to translate social problems into anthropological research questions and transform the research into practical policies, thus contributing to social innovation and new health care models.

The master's degree offers both aspects of professional specialization and research initiation. Therefore, the main goals are:
-To train professionals working in the fields related to aging, so that they are able to face the problems with a holistic and integrative vision.
-Acquire and develop skills for the transfer of new academic knowledge in the areas of health care and public health in aging.
-Acquire and develop skills to incorporate basic knowledge in aging.
-Develop skills for the care work and/or research multidisciplinary character in aging.

The master's degree is especially aimed at students in possession of a bachelor's degree in Health or a bachelor's degree/diploma in Physiotherapy, Nursing, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology and ambits relating to the health sciences and who are particularly interested in the different disciplines and fields relating to the study of aging and the care of elderly people, or who are interested in carrying out research in this area.
