The School of Politics and International Studies at Leeds is a unique department in the UK, bringing together research and teaching in the areas of Security, Development and Democracy. Part of one of the Russell Group top twenty research led universities in the UK, the School has a thriving postgraduate community with over 200 students studying on postgraduate programmes, and over half of these coming from overseas. Politics and International Studies at Leeds
The work of the School covers a range of disciplinary and interdisciplinary subjects, areas and agendas within the fields of politics, international relations, international development and European studies. Much of our work is international in orientation and staff expertise covers Africa, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, American foreign policy, the post-Soviet world, and South and South East Asia.
The School is home to four major research centres, specialising in Global Justice and Development; International Relations and Security; Leadership, Parties and Institutions; and Political Theory and Democratisation.
We offer taught MA programmes in the following areas:
Global Development:
We offer the MA Global Development as well as MA Global Development with specific named pathways in: Africa; Gender; Education; Politics of Interntional Resources; and International Political Economy.
Politics:
We offer the MA Politics as well as 2 specific named MA Politics pathways in Political Theory and Parliamentary.
International Relations and Security:
In this area we offer 3 named MA Programmes:

MA International Relations
MA Security, Terrorism and Insurgency
We now also offer a unique, collaborative MA programme that allows you to study in both the UK and China: MA Public Administration

The Graduate School

With around 5,000 students from outside the UK studying at the University, student support services are excellent. With pre-departure briefings in many countries, meet-and-greet schemes at local stations and induction programmes on arrival, we do everything we can to help new students settle into university life. The University also provides a comprehensive range of welfare and support services to assist you during your time at Leeds.

If you are a single student from outside the European Union, the University will guarantee you a place in University accommodation, provided you return your accommodation application form and your deposit before the relevant deadlines. If you want accommodation for yourself and your partner or family, we do have some suitable accommodation, but places are limited.
