Aims of our Manchester Programmes
Our primary aim is to provide a learning experience which will maximise your employability in a competitive job market and, subsequently, accelerate your career progression. In addition, a significant number of our Masters graduates find these programmes an excellent preparation for PhD study.
Masters programmes offered
• Petroleum Geoscience MSc
• Petroleum Business Studies MSc
• MSc in Earth & Environmental Sciences: Research Technologies MSc
• Pollution and Environmental Control MSc
• Master of Enterprise in Environmental Innovation
• MSc by Research
• MSc in Atmospheric Sciences
All programmes are normally one year and may only be taken on a full-time basis. There are seven months of taught modules (normally September to April) which requires attendance on intensive taught units which are assessed through continuous assessment project work. This is followed by a research project lasting five months (normally May to September). The research project provides an opportunity for students to specialise and gain hands-on experience in designing, implementing and presenting a substantial piece of original research. Wherever possible we encourage students to involve outside organisations in the planning and implementation of their research projects.
