We've been helping students find the right postgraduate course for over a decade.
The School of Computing consists of around 45 members of academic staff with expertise in a wide range of subjects covering computing and information systems - this is reflected in the high quality of our teaching, as evidenced by our recent excellent teaching quality assessment, the diversity of our research and in our unique range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
We are a lively, friendly and supportive school. Our aim is to provide our graduates, who come from all parts of the world, with the skills and knowledge that will make them valuable contributors to the information industry. We believe that our environment helps to produce confident and highly employable graduates.
In the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2008 our researchers submitted their work under the Unit of Assessment of Computer Science and Informatics (UOA 23). This covered work in the Artificial Intelligence, Parallel and Distributed Systems and Healthcare Modelling & Informatics. Twenty-five per cent of our work was judged to be ‘internationally excellent or world-leading’, with 65 per cent of international standing, reflecting the quality and industrial significance of the submission.
Some staff also submitted their work under Business and Management Studies (UOA36) and others under Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering (UOA 28), to cover work in the Information Systems and Systems Engineering.
