23. A master's thesis must be a substantial work generally based on independent research which shows a sound knowledge of the subject of the research, evidence of the exercise of some independence of thought and the ability of expression in clear and concise language.

24.(1) A student must submit a thesis after the completion of a course of supervised research and advanced study in a subject or subjects approved by the Board.

(2) The course of supervised research and advanced study may include—

(a) such courses, lectures, seminars and other work as the supervisor or head of school concerned directs; and

(b) studies and investigations culminating in such reports as the supervisor(s) direct(s); and

(c) additional requirements as set out in the rules for the relevant degrees in the Master's by Research Degrees Administered by the Board of the Graduate Research School with Special Admission or Course Requirements.

(3) On the recommendation of the appropriate head of school and supervisor, the Board may prescribe study additional to the requirements of (2).

25. A student must provide particulars of the progress and results of the research to the supervisor(s) from time to time and whenever requested.

Audiology is the clinical science involving the prevention, assessment and rehabilitation of hearing loss and associated communication disorders.

UWA's Master of Clinical Audiology course is one of only five university audiology programs offered in Australia. The course provides students with extensive supervised clinical placements in a variety of workplace settings. Employment prospects for Audiologists who graduate from UWA are excellent both within Australia and overseas. Graduates are eligible for full membership of the Audiological Society of Australia.

The Master of Clinical Audiology has an intake every second year, in even years. The next intake of students will commence in January 2016. Applications will open in September 2015.

UWA's Auditory Laboratory has been internationally recognised for more than 30 years for the excellence of its research into the fundamental physiological processes of both normal hearing and hearing impairment.

Continence and Women's Health

This major will provide you with the opportunity to become an expert clinician in women's health physiotherapy and its related areas of practice. In this major you will develop clinical skills in the assessment and management of conditions which are unique, common or serious to women, or require special interventions in women.

You will develop particular expertise in the management of pelvic floor dysfunction and its presentations, including bladder and bowel dysfunction, disorders of the pelvic organ and pelvic girdle support, sexual dysfunction and pelvic pain.

This course is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge to work in the field of health promotion, or expand on your existing experience and research abilities. You will plan, implement and evaluate health promotion programs in various settings, develop your research skills, and examine current issues in optimising health and prevention of disease.

Career opportunities

This course opens many doors to a career in health promotion. Upon graduation, you may choose to seek work at a ‘grass roots’ level developing community based health promotion programs; become involved in broadbased social marketing campaigns; or conduct health promotion intervention research.

Alternatively, you may wish to further your research career by applying for a doctoral course.
