We've been helping students find the right postgraduate course for over a decade.
Newcastle is a busy city in the north east of England, situated upon the river Tyne and forming part of the larger urban area of Tyneside. It is home to two universities catering to around 42,000 students on a wide range of degree programmes.
You might be amused to know that Newcastle's origins do, in fact, date back to a 'new' castle built shortly after the Norman Conquest in the eleventh century (so, not that 'new' anymore then). The city has since gone on to become a major shipbuilding centre as well as the urban hub for one of England's most significant coal mining areas.
Newcastle's recent history has seen its economy refocus away from heavy industry and manufacture towards digital technologies and corporate business.
As a postgraduate student in Newcastle you'll enjoy living in a city with a proud regional culture and many well-known local products and traditions. The city is home to a premier league football team, Newcastle United FC, whose stadium, St James' Park is the fourth largest in England.
Other attractions include various substantial museums, art galleries and music venues as well as large retail shopping centres.
The oldest university in Newcastle is Newcastle University. Formerly a college of the University of Durham, Newcastle is now an independent member of the Russell Group of elite UK research universities and is usually ranked as a world top 200 and UK top 20 university.
In addition to Newcastle University, the city is also home to Northumbria University. Other nearby UK universities include the University of Sunderland and the University of Durham, both of which are less than fifteen miles away.
