The MSc in Business Information Systems has been designed for ambitious students who are committed to pursuing a career on the interface between business and information technology. The programme is based on three pillars: practice orientation, innovation and internationality. The goal is to empower students to effectively exploit information to sustain the success of enterprises in a globalized, networked and digital economy.

The MSc in Business Information Systems is divided into three main module groups. Projects and a variety of electives allow students to design their course programme individually according to their preferred areas of interest.

Core Modules (24 ECTS)

The core modules cover essential topics in the area of business information systems and provide the essentials for the other module groups.

Research and Innovation Projects (30 ECTS)

In the research and innovation projects students apply concepts and
models learned in classes. Students are free to decide on the topics of their projects.

Electives (36 ECTS)

A variety of elective modules have been designed to provide students the choice best suited to their interests and career prospects.

Biostatistics is the science of analyzing and interpreting biomedical data. As a discipline it is driven by a strong interaction between problems from biomedical research and rigorous mathematical analysis. Complex scientific challenges require the development of new and appropriate statistical methods. Currently such challenges emerge, for example, in environmental and infectious disease epidemiology, personalized and evidence-based medicine and molecular life sciences, especially genomics, proteomics, epigenomics.

The Master Program in Biostatistics of the Univeristy of Zurich is specialized master program, hence it is a useful and direct continuation of a bachelor degree in all fields that include quantitative aspects, e.g. mathematics, physics, biology, computer science etc. Students interested and talented in logical reasoning, quantitative analysis, interdisciplinary science and research in the life sciences in general are suitable candidates for the program.

The program is based on the cooperation between the Institute of Mathematics in the Faculty of Science and the Division of Biostatistics of the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine. This broad basis allows to offer an education which provides graduates besides a classical training in biostatistics with a vast perspective on statistical approaches and challenges in the life sciences. It is the only - to date - specialized program for the training of biostatisticians in Switzerland. The entire program is taught in English.

Applications are expected by September 15 of the previous year for the spring semester and by February 15 of the same year for the fall semester. The molecular sciences have evolved dramatically in recent decades. It is no longer clear what “should” be called chemistry, or biology, or biochemistry, or materials science, etc., because so much cutting-edge research spans two or more of these traditional disciplines. The Specialized M.Sc. program in Chemical and Molecular Sciences (MS-CMS) is designed to address the needs of the students and faculty engaged in such multi-disciplinary research.

For you, as prospective M.Sc. students, some of the most important features of the program are:
● Open to students with a B.Sc. in science
● You do not have to do your M.Sc. research in the same discipline as your B.Sc.
● 90 ECTS program; 60 ECTS research, 30 ECTS coursework and seminars
● The program is research intensive – you will be expected to do active research in all 3 semesters of your M.Sc. studies.
● You must identify an M.Sc. advisor in advance, and this advisor must agree to accept you into his/her research group.
● The classes you take will be tailored to your individual background and research area.
● The MS-CMS program is closely affiliated with the Graduate School in Chemical and Molecular Sciences (http://www.cmszh.uzh.ch), and offers a fast track into Ph.D. studies.
