About Global-MINDS

Global-MINDS is a comprehensive 2- year study programme focusing on insights from Social and Cultural Psychology and applying them to contemporary societal issues. Students receive a thorough education in social and cultural psychological theory, research and methods, as well as training in intercultural skills – assets that are indispensable in today´s global knowledge economy and multicultural working environments. The programme includes an internationalization component that is indispensable for such a master.

Universities from five countries jointly deliver the Global-MINDS programme in English:

• ISCTE – Lisbon University Institute (ISCTE-IUL), Lisbon, Portugal

• University of Oslo (UiO), Oslo, Norway

• University of Social Sciences and Humanities (SWPS), Warsaw, Poland

• Koç University (KU), Istanbul, Turkey

• University of Limerick (UL), Limerick, Ireland

Global-MINDS has received a grant from the European Union to implement the master and fund a total of 58 scholarships of various kinds (programme countries, partner countries, and targeted regions) over 5 years, including 3 classes of students. The first class of students will begin in the Fall semester of 2017.

Education Paths

Global-MINDS students opt for one of three mobility paths for their first year of study, during which most of the course work is completed. Each mobility path focuses on a specific societal issue and provides students with diverse cultural experiences and educational contents:

A. Diversity & Inclusion (ISCTE-IUL, then UL)

B. Global Mobility & Acculturation (ISCTE-IUL or SWPS, then UiO)

C. Culture & Organizations (SWPS, then KU)

(Students may opt for an additional mobility in their second year to complete their internship and master thesis.)

Each of the program institutions is expert in their respective part of the Global-MINDS educational programme. Graduates will be awarded a joint master degree. A group of world-leading scholars from different countries also contributes to the delivery and quality assurance of the programme. An international network of associate partners – private companies, civil society organisations, public service providers, practitioners, policy makers, governmental organisations and NGOs – assures high quality student internships and assistance in graduates’ employment.

Application procedures

Global-MINDS uses the management platform eConsort to facilitate the application process. Only after registering with your name and email address will you be able to access the online application form.

Each eligible application will be evaluated for quality and those applicants who pass the first stage will be interviewed by video or telephone (see details below). Final ranking of candidates will be made after the interviews.

Master’s in International Programs are designed for people in the early stages of their careers – with little or no full-time professional experience. Koç MIM is a full-time Master’s of Science program. MIM curriculum equips students with knowledge and skills crucial to assessing and implementing decisions on a global scale. During the program, students will interact and build networks with their peers and professors. MIM Students fulfil various curriculum requirements by participating in Block Seminars, Skill Seminars and taking mandatory and elective courses. A diversified curriculum enables the MIM students to learn more about the field in which they are interested. Students are presented with a wide range of elective courses ranging from Innovation Management to International Negotiations. By undertaking Business Projects, Students are exposed to real-life business situations thereby gaining insight into management best practices and learn key practical skills required to function effectively in corporate world.
Since its founding in 2009, KOÇ Master's in International Management (KOÇ MIM) has been developing a learning model based upon Koç University Graduate School of Business's strong identity and core values: Leadership, Responsibility and Vision.

KOÇ Master of Science in International Management provides students with the competencies they need for becoming successful leaders in the global business world.

The main components of the program are;

• Block Seminar: Koç University MIM students start their international management degree with a one-week, intensive seminar called Block Seminar. Block Seminars are academically and culturally intensive, and the experience is the ideal starting point into the program. The Block Seminar of the 2013/14 Academic Year was on "Innovation and Entrepreneurship".

• Skill Seminars: Thoughout the MIM year, students are offered seminars which aim to train its participants on specific practical skills. They are essential to start in an effective professional career and fundamental to adjusting easily to an international management environment. Business Project offering companies include, PERA, Sportone, PriceWaterhouse Coopers, Arçelik, Yapı Kredi, Google, Vodafone etc.

• Business Academy: Business Academy aims to foster a dialogue between the Leaders of Today with the Leaders of Tomorrow. This includes visits to the CEOs, CFOs and other Executive Level leaders of various companies, such as Henkel, ABB, Akbank, Nestlé and etc.

• To have a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university;

• TOEFL or IELTS score (min. score 600/100/250 or IELTS 7.00) - If you are a graduate of Koç University or a University that is accredited by EQUIS/AACSB you are exempt from TOEFL/IELTS and expected to fill the University Degree Section*

• GMAT or GRE scores are essential components of the admission evaluation process and applicants are required to get their results before submitting their applications. In addition to mechanical strength, various structural, optical, electrical, magnetic and thermal properties are demanded from materials depending on the application. The field of Materials Science and Engineering investigates different classes of materials -metals, ceramics, polymers, electronic materials, biomaterials- with an emphasis on the relationships between the underlying structure and the processing, properties, and performance of the materials.

As enabling technologies become more easily accessible, engineers are faced with increasing demands for designing and producing more complex mechanical devices to serve the needs of the society. Next generation engineering products will be ‘smart’ with many functionalities; they will be made of new materials; they will increase energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact; they will vary in size from nano to mega scales; and they will be more closely integrated with information processing systems. Also as mechanical systems are becoming increasingly complex to analyze and expensive to experiment, more emphasis will have to be placed on computer aided analysis, design, verification and manufacturing.
